ISBN 087008125X〕 Prior to its publication in book form the novel was serialized in four issues (April–July 1931) of ''The American Magazine''. The story concerns the romantic troubles of young Anthony Bryce, Earl of Droitwich. Engaged to be married to Violet Waddington, heiress to 'Waddington's 97 Soups', Tony finds his life thrown into chaos when his old nurse comes to pay him a visit, revealing a long-kept family secret. Tony departs for London with the resourceful Polly Brown, leaving the ancestral home in the hands of the Socialist barber Syd Price. ==References==
